New Feature for The Path of Champions: Constellations

Reach for the stars in the Path of Champions with major updates to power progression, the addition of Viego to the champion roster, and much more!

Patch 5.5 will be available at approximately 10:00 AM PT on Wednesday, May 22nd.

• The Path of Champions
  • Constellations:
    • Path of Champions Stars have evolved into Constellations! Power up your favorite champions in all-new ways.
  • New Champion – Viego:
    • The Ruined King joins the Path of Champions roster, fully equipped with his blade and a full Constellation.
  • New Stat – Regen:
    • Instead of having a power that heals your Nexus at the start of a game, now you have a Regen stat (which replaces all current Stamina upgrades). Regen heals your Nexus each time you complete a battle.

Regional Gemstones, Crystals, and Shards have been added alongside Champion Fragments, and can be used to power up a champion’s Constellation based on their regional alignment.

New Reward Containers:

• You can now earn Diamond Vaults!
• Star Vessels will award Star Crystals, as well as Nova Shards and Nova Crystals depending on the tier of the Vessel
• Gemstone Vessels will award Gemstones at different volumes based on the tier of the Vessel
• Star Vessels and Gemstone Vessels have both region-specific and generic [randomized] versions.

We have a large selection of new featured bundles to choose from on 5.5 release to celebrate the launch of Constellations across these categories:

• Intro Bundles: Bundles designed to get you started in TPoC for the first time, or give you a healthy dose of loot to dive into the world of Constellations with your TPoC roster.
• Nova Crystal Bundles: Region-specific bundles that grant players a Nova Crystal and 150 Gemstones per region, alongside some other rewards.
• Celestial Bundles: Region-specific bundles that grant players 600 Gemstones per region, alongside some other rewards.

Design Context [Tyler]: Times have changed a lot since Miss Fortune was first released – we swapped out some cards in her deck to give her more access to thematically & mechanically-fitting options.

Design Context [Tyler]: As we were iterating on Neeko’s new star powers, her lack of interaction felt like it was meaningfully holding her back, so we swapped her Invoke card for Wallop to allow her to fare better against difficult content.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where Brightsteel Protector and Trueshot Barrage could be acquired with 2 different versions in The Path of Champions. Moving forward, only the correct versions should be available.
• Fixed an issue where the Item Voidling Shell was appearing on all types of cards. Moving forward, it will only appear on Units.
• Fixed an issue where a Story Landmark’s chapter icon could overlap with and obscure an enemy card’s keyword icon tray.
• Vex’s 2-star power Psychological Warfare and Morellonomicon item now apply Gloom based on pre-mitigation damage values, bypassing Tough and Barrier.
• Conchologist is now removed from Vex’s starting deck, replaced with Withering Wail.
• Fixed an issue where the Early Loss Powers would show non-Common powers.
• Fixed an issue where the Mind Meld node in Lissandra’s adventure worked differently than all other Mind Meld nodes.

THE PATH OF CHAMPIONS CURRENCIES

With the release of Constellations, we’ve added a handful of new currencies that you’ll need to progress your champion. Here’s a brief explainer of each currency and where to find them.

Currencies

The list of where to use each currency and where to find it is non-exhaustive, and these currencies may be used or found in places not listed here.

FRAGMENTS

Fragments are used to upgrade champion constellations and come in two different types: Champion Fragments, which can only be used on a specific champion, and Wild Fragments, which may be used on any champion. Some champions, like Aurelion Sol, are special in that their fragments are not found in vaults and Wild Fragments cannot be used to upgrade them.

Champion Fragments

• Where to use: Unlocking Star Powers and other upgrades for the named champion
• Where to find: All Vaults (Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum/Diamond), Emporium

Wild Fragments

• Where to use: Unlocking Star Powers and other upgrades for any champion
• Where to find: Daily Quest, Monthly Challenges, Diamond Vaults
  

STAR CRYSTALS

Star Crystals are marked with a region and are used to unlock the 4th and 5th Star Powers for champions with constellations from that region.

• Where to use: Unlocking certain Star Powers for champions with full constellations
• Where to find: All Star Vessels (Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum)
  

NOVA SHARDS & NOVA CRYSTALS

Nova Shards and Nova Crystals are marked with a region. Once 100 Nova Shards of the same region are collected, they can be fused into a Nova Crystal of that region when viewing your currency collection, or they’ll automatically fuse when unlocking a star power that costs a Nova Crystal.

Nova Shards

• Where to use: Fuse 100 Nova Shards from the same region into a Nova Crystal of that region.
• Where to find: Gold Star Vessels

Nova Crystals

• Where to use: Unlocking certain Star Powers for champions with full constellations
• Where to find: Platinum Star Vessels

GEMSTONES

Gemstones are marked with a region and are used to unlock certain upgrades in constellations.

• Where to use: Unlocking certain upgrades in constellations.
• Where to find: All Gemstone Vessels (Major/Minor)

STARDUST

Stardust is generated when acquiring duplicate relics or champion fragments in excess of that champion’s total upgrade costs.

• Where to use: The Emporium
• Where to find: All Star Vessels. Also generated by acquiring duplicate relics or excess champion fragments.

Vaults & Vessels

This is a brief overview of the various types of containers with Path of Champions currencies in them. The list of what’s inside each container and where to find them is non-exhaustive, and they will occasionally contain other items or be found in places not listed here.

VAULTS

Vaults primarily contain champion fragments, but will occasionally include bonus items. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Vaults are duplicate protected and will only contain fragments for champions that you haven’t fully upgraded.

• Rarities: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond
• What’s inside: Champion Fragments
• Where to find: Quests, Weekly Adventures, Monthly Challenges

STAR VESSELS

Star Vessels primarily contain Star Crystals and Stardust, with higher rarity containers including Nova Shards and Nova Crystals. If a Star Vessel has an associated region, the Star Crystals, Nova Shards, and Nova Crystals it contains will also be of that region. A Star Vessel without a region will contain currencies of a random region (all currencies will be from the same random region).

• Variants: One per region, one regionless
• Rarities: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum
• What’s inside: Star Crystals and Stardust. Gold also contains Nova Shards. Platinum also contains Nova Crystals.
• Where to find: Monthly Challenges, Events

GEMSTONE VESSELS

Gemstone Vessels contain Gemstones. If the Gemstone Vessel has an associated region, the Gemstones it contains will also be of that region. A Gemstone Vessel without a region will contain Gemstones of a random region.
