Top 6 Best Prismatic Evolutions Cards – Pokemon TCG

Check out the best Pokemon cards from Prismatic Evolution expansion.

There has been a lot of discourse regarding Prismatic Evolution expansion, mostly having reprints of older, less popular cards and giving out Prismatics for players. This Pokemon TCG set isn’t really changing the meta much, so although Pokemon TCG collectors are lining up in stores to grab their Prismatic Evolution set, actual players are left disappointed with the expansion. However, Prismatic Evolution has a couple of new cards that will likely become meta staples and force players to adapt their lists.

Blazikin ex and Liligant were two cards set to release in the Prismatic Evolution set, but it was later pushed to post Rotation, so we’ll have to wait more for them.

In this article, I’ll go through the top 6 best Prismatic Evolution cards that you’ll want to keep an eye on and probably add to your list or build a deck around!

6- Max Rod

Max Rod can be a great value card, putting up 5 in any combination of Pokemon and Basic Energy cards from your discard pile into your hand. But cards like Night Stretcher and Superior Energy Retrieval usually are enough for most decks.

5-Jolteon Ex

Jolteon Ex is usually paired with Flareon Ex. It deals 280 damage with Dravite, but can’t attack on the upcoming turn. Flashing Spear is easier to activate, dealing 60 damage to the opponent’s Pokemon. However, you can instead its damage by 90 for each Basic Energy you discard from your Benched Pokemon. So you could deal 150 damage by discarding 1 Energy or 240 damage by discarding 2 Energy cards.

4- Eevee

Eevee Ex is a great addition to Eeveelution decks since it’s a Tera-type Pokemon. This means we don’t have to run other Tera-type Pokemon to activate cards like Glass Trumpet or Area Zero Underpath. If need be, you can use Rainbow DNA ability, letting you evolve into any Pokemon ex that evolves from Eevee. So Flareon Ex and Jolteon Ex are options to get in play through Eevee Ex.

Eevee Ex’s Coruscating Quartz also has the same cost as Flareon Ex’s Carnelian and Jolteon Ex’s Dravlite, so it would fit perfectly in the list. But you’d most likely rather attack with one of your Stage 1 Pokemon for that cost.

Eevee Ex will mostly be in the deck for the Tera-type to activate certain cards. It’s not supposed to be a win condition, but more of a support card that you can use to evolve later in the game. It’s a better choice than another Tera-type Pokemon that doesn’t synergize with the deck.

3- Flareon Ex

Flareon Ex is a new Fire-type Eevee evolution, with 270 HP. It has two attacks, Burning Charge needs a Fire and a Colorless Energy card to activate, dealing 130 damage, and search your deck for 2 Basic Energy cards to attach them to one of your Pokemon.

On the other hand, Carnelian is Flareon Ex’s heavy attack, dealing 280 damage, but prevents you from attacking the upcoming turn. Carnelian needs Fire, Water, and Lightning Energy to activate, so the decklist needs to account for that.

Other Eevee evolutions like Jolteon Ex and Vaporeon Ex, have attacks with the same Energy costs as Flareon Ex’s Carnelian, so you could add them to your list to evolve Eevee into.

2- Regigigas

Regigigas snatches second place, capable of one-shotting Tera Pokemon with Jewel Breaker. Jewel Breaker needs 4 colorless Energy to activate, dealing 100 damage, but going up to 230 damage when attacking a Tera Pokemon.

You can add 1 copy of Regigigas into decks like Lugia Vstar, Lost Box, and Chien Pao ex that have cards like Archeops and Baxcalibur to accelerate the Energy attachment. Having Regigigas as an alternate damage dealer allows you to Knock out Pokemon like Charizard ex, Dragapult ex, and Terapagos ex, etc.

1- Budew

Budew wins it for me! Be ready to see this card everywhere thanks to its Itchy Pollen preventing opponents from playing any of their Item cards. Why is this good? It buys the player time as it shuts down decks that rely on Rare Candy to evolve their Pokemon. This slows them a turn or two until you can get your win condition online and get ahead of them.

Budew will force many decks to adapt to it, adding cards to play around it and make sure their strategy isn’t completely shut down. Some lists will consider adding cards like Technical Machine: Evolution or Grand Tree to evolve their Pokemon.

On the bright side, Budew has a low health of 30, so it doesn’t have the survivability to withstand most of the attacks. You’ll remain locked from playing Items for the turn, but grabbing a Prize Card can help you out.
