During today’s Triple-i Initiative stream, Slay The Spire 2 was announced and will be released in early 2025. The Mega Crit game was first released in 2019 and has grown to become the most popular roguelike deck-building game.
The trailer confirms the return of the Ironclad and Silent classes while introducing a brand-new character — The Necrobinder.
What is Slay the Spire?
The game is divided into acts, with each act consisting of several floors. Players must navigate through these floors, encountering various events, enemies, and merchants along the way. Combat is turn-based, with players using cards from their deck to attack, defend, or apply various effects to themselves or their enemies.
As players progress through floors, they can acquire new cards, relics (which provide passive bonuses), and potions to strengthen their deck and increase their chances of success. However, the game’s roguelike nature means that failing a floor will force you to start over from the beginning, though players can unlock new characters and cards as they progress.
Since its release six years ago, Slay the Spire is still hailed as the best rogue-like deck-building game, and many games have adopted a similar approach, trying to follow its success. I’m hyped for Slay the Spire 2 and can’t wait to start the grind!
In the meantime, you can download and play Slay the Spire through Steam as we wait for the release of Slay the Spire 2.
