Howdy! Pikachu ex is crushing the competition in Pokemon Pocket, becoming the most-played deck in tournaments and yielding the best results. It’s also not a difficult deck to pilot and doesn’t solely rely on specific Pokemon to support him. If you have two Pikachu ex, you can add any other Lightning type Pokemon to the list and start winning the games!
I’ll explain how this deck works and which Pokemon you can include alongside Pikachu.
How to Play
Pikachu ex is the carry in the deck, dealing 30 damage with Circle Circuit for each Pokemon on your Bench. This means we want to fill up our Bench with Pokemon to deal up to 90 damage.
Circle Circuit only needs 2 Lightning Energy, so it doesn’t take too long to start attacking with Pikachu ex. Additionally, you don’t need to evolve Pikachu ex, so he’s perfect for aggressive gameplay.
The retreat cost is only 1 Energy, which makes it easy to Bench Pikachu ex and keep him in the back for safety. You’ll wait until the right time to win the game to move Pikachu ex back to the Active spot and deal the finishing blow.
Zapdos ex is a popular Pokemon to pair with Pikachu ex. It can take a while to get 3 Lightning Energy on it, but once ready, the Thundering Hurricane can win games. You’ll flip 4 coins, and for each heads, Thundering Hurricane deals 50 damage. So if you’re lucky enough, you could deal 150 or even 200 damage to knock out high HP Pokemon.

The Voltrob + Electrode version is popular among players. Electrode doesn’t need any Energy to retreat, so you can have him on the Bench and if the opponent plays a Sabrina, you can move him to the Active spot to retreat him for free. He can also be played in the Active Spot to take early hits until you stack Lightning Energy on Pikachu ex or Zapdos ex.

Pincuruchin has a low 70 HP, so it can’t survive high-damage attacks. However, its low retreat cost lets you move it back to the Bench easily before opponents get the knockout. Pincuruchin‘s Thunder Shock needs 2 Lightning Energy, and although it only deals 30 damage, the ability to Paralyze the opponent’s Pokemon can slow them down and give you a free turn.
Blitze + Zebstrika is another popular inclusion in the Pikachu deck. Zebstrika‘s Thunder Spear needs only 1 Lightning Energy to deal 30 damage to one of your opponent’s Pokemon. You can target the opponent’s Bench to knock out low HP Pokemon.

Pikachu + Raichu is a high-damage dealer game plan. Raichu‘s Thunderbolt deals 140 damage, perfect as a finisher attack to win games. You want to start with Pikachu ex first, and before it gets knocked out, you can retreat it for either Raichu or Zapdos ex to carry the game with a heavy hit.
Raichu needs 3 Lightning Energy to attack with Thunderbolt, so you can use Lt. Surge to move Lightning Energy to Raichu to go for the attack.
Pikachu ex Weaknesses
- Pikachu ex‘s low 120 HP makes him vulnerable to high-damage attacks. Since he’s an ex type Pokemon, he’ll give 2 Points, giving your opponent the chance of winning the game by knocking out a non ex Pokemon.
- You can’t knock out Pokemon with one hit. You have to rely on multiple attacks to faint high HP Pokemon.
