Paldean Clodsire ex Grafaiai Deck Guide – Pokemon TCG Pocket

The Darkness Clodsire ex Grafaiai deck joins Pokemon Pocket in the A2b Shining Revelry expansion. It deals damage in multiple ways, mainly relying on Poison to dish out more damage. Since it’s a Darkness deck, Darkrai ex fits well, adding extra damage over time to help Clodsire ex score knockouts and win faster.

How to Play

Paldean Clodsire ex

A2b-047
A2b-048

Paldean Clodsire ex is a 160 HP Stage 1 Pokemon, evolving from Paldean Wooper. Clodsire ex‘s 160 HP makes it tough for opponents to knock out easily, and they will usually need multiple attacks to get the job done.

Clodsire ex is our main damage dealer, needing 2 Darkness Energy to start attacking with Venoshock. Venoshock deals 60 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon, which isn’t too frightening for most decks. However, if your opponent’s Active Pokemon is Poisoned, Venoshock’s damage increases to 120, capable of knocking out higher HP Pokemon.

We have two ways of poisoning an opponent’s Pokemon: Wooper and Grafaiai. Wooper‘s Poison Jab attack will poison an opponent’s Active Pokemon, but they can retreat it on their upcoming turn to remove the Poison, preventing the combo with Clodsire ex.

On the other hand, Grafaiai‘s ability can Poison the opponent’s Active Pokemon during your turn, enabling you to follow it up with your Clodsire ex‘s Venoshock attack.

Grafaiai Poison

A2b-051

Grafaiai is a 90 HP Stage 1 Pokemon evolving from Shroodle. It’s more vulnerable than Clodsire ex, with a Bite attack that deals only 40 damage. So you often won’t be relying on it as an attacker, but mostly for its Poison Coating ability. Poison Coating flips a coin, and if it’s heads, you poison the opponent’s Active Pokemon. Poison will chip away at the Pokemon’s HP slowly, making it easier for you to knock it out, especially with Clodsire ex‘s Venoshock.

Darkrai ex Passive Damage

A2-110

When you attach Darkness Energy to Darkrai ex, its ability, Nightmare Aura, will deal 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon, weakening it and making it easier for your attacker to finish the job.

Once you have 3 Energy on Darkrai ex, it can start attacking with Dark Prism, dealing 80 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon.

Draw Cards

Poke Ball can draw Shrooke, Paldean Wooper, or Darkrai ex to ensure your strategy isn’t slowed down, evolving your Pokemon as early as possible.

Professor’s Research is a Supporter card to draw 2 cards. Since it’s a Supporter card, you want to play it early into the game since you’ll want to play your other Supporters in the late game.

As for Iono, we’ll first play all the key cards before activating it to shuffle all the cards left in the deck and draw that many cards. So we’ll remove the cards we don’t need anymore to hopefully find better cards and continue our strategy. The opposing player will do the same; the only difference is that they can’t play the cards they want from their hand, so we could potentially remove a high-value card by placing it back in their deck.

Battle Cards

A2b-071

Red adds to the damage of your attacks, boosting them by 20 damage if you’re targeting an ex Pokemon. Darkari ex‘s Dark Prism becomes a 100 damage attack, whereas Paldean Clodsire ex‘s Venoshock can deal up to 140 damage.

A2-150

Sabrina forces opponents to switch out their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon. This can allow you to knock out a more valuable Pokemon or slow opponent’s strategy and force them to retreat and discard Energy to get their plan back on track.

Since we’re dealing a lot of damage to the opponent’s Pokemon, Cyrus is great in this list, giving us the ability to pull a damaged Pokemon on the Bench to the Active spot and attack it directly.

A2b-070

Pokemon Center Lady can keep your Pokemon in play for an extra turn, healing it by 30 damage to put it out of range from the opponent’s upcoming attack. Additionally, it will remove all Special Conditions, so you can remove things like Poison or Paralyzed that hinder your strategy.
