Overwatch 2 Fans Unhappy with the Cowboy Bebop Collab

Blizzard Entertainment collaborated with anime studio Sunrise to bring popular characters from the anime Cowboy Bebop to Overwatch 2.

Initially, fans were excited about the collaboration. Cowboy Bebop is one of the top anime shows for all anime veterans and to see the world of Overwatch and Cowboy Bebop come together felt thrilling.

That was until the new Cowboy Bebop skins dropped. Cassidy, Ashe, Mauga, Sombra, and Wrecking Ball received new skins but felt underwhelming compared to the anime.

Spike Cassidy, Faye Ashe, Ed Sombra, and Jet Mauga

It was Cole Cassidy, previously known as McCree, who was dressed up as Cowboy Bebop’s Spike Spiegel that received most of the negative criticism. Compared to the original concept art, Cassidy felt less appealing, especially when it came to the hair.

In the animated trailer, Cassidy’s hair was covered by a hat, which is not the case in-game.

Overwatch 2 art director Dion Rogers told ComicBook.com that the choice to make Cassidy go hatless was intended to closely match the look of Spike Spiegel.

Overwatch 2 fans were displeased with the high cost of the skins, feeling that their money is better spent buying a new game rather than dumping it on skins.
