Mewtwo ex Gardevoir is one of the top decks in Pokemon Pocket. Seeing a lot of play among players, this deck uses Mewtwo ex as its main win condition and Gardevoir as a supporting Pokemon, speeding up your strategy to knock out threats as early as possible.
Decklist
How to Play
Mewtwo ex is the main damage dealer we rely on to win the game. Their 150 health makes it difficult for opponents to knock him out easily and will take them a couple of turns to deal with him. Keep in mind that Mewtwo ex gives 2 points when knocked out.
Psychic Sphere is our first attack, requiring one Psychic Energy and one Colorless Energy to start pushing 50 damage. 50 damage isn’t much, but two attacks from Mewtwo ex should knock out most of the Basic Pokemon you’re facing.
However, the second attack, Psydrive, is where Mewtwo’s true strength, allows us to deal 150 damage to an opponent’s Pokemon, which means we’ll knock out almost anything we go up against with just one attack. Getting to activate it can be a bit sweaty as it requires 4 Energy and each time you activate it you’re forced to discard two Psychic Energy from Mewtwo.
Needing multiple turns to use Psydrive isn’t a great strategy, so we have tools in the deck that allow us to attach Psychic Energy to Mewtwo through other means.
Energy Generation
Gardevoir is on this list for its Psy Shadow Ability, allowing us to attach 1 Psychic Energy from your Energy Zone to a psychic Pokemon in the Active spot. So we can give Mewtwo an extra Energy and accelerate our game plan, getting closer to his Psychic Drive. Even if activate Psychic Drive and discard 2 Psychic Energy, we can still reactivate it on the upcoming turn thanks to Psy Shadow giving us an Extra Energy.
Gardevoir is also a alternate damage Pokemon if needed, pushing 60 damage with Psyshot, which can knock out basic low-health Pokemon.
We want Gardevoir in play as early as possible, but to do that we have to evolve Ralts into Kirlia and then we can evolve Kirlia into Gardevoir. Kirlia doesn’t pose much of a threat with Smack’s 30 damage, but it remains an option if needed.
Draw
- Professor Research is our strongest draw option, giving us two draws to find the cards we need.
- Poke Ball can draw 1 random Basic Pokemon from the deck, which means we can draw either Mewtwo ex or Ralts.
Battle Cards
Giovanni lets you deal +10 damage to an Active Pokemon, giving you that extra push to knock it out. This can be useful if you don’t have Mewtwo or Psyderve available and need that extra damage to remove your opponent’s Pokemon.
Sabrina is situational, but she forces opponents to switch their active Pokemon with one from the bench, typically used if it’s easier for us to knock out a benched Pokemon and get 1 Point.
Gardevoir needs two Energy to retreat, so if we can’t afford to attach Energy to it, X Speed can drop it to 1 Energy only, allowing us to get Mewtwo ex in the Active spot and start pushing real damage. X Speed is also useful to get a damaged Pokemon out of the Active spot and into the safety of your Bench, denying opponents an easy knock out.
