Leafeon ex Celebi ex Deck Guide – Pokemon TCG Pocket

Leafeon ex Celebi ex is a Grass-type deck, ramping up Grass Energy and going for quick attacks with Leafeon before transitioning to the Celebi win condition.

The new version of Celebi ex uses Leafeon ex as a ramp Pokemon that can go for aggressive attacks, capable of getting knockouts quickly. This deck became a popular choice in tournaments, and has been holding up well in the Pokemon Pocket meta.

The Grass deck isn’t particularly new, as it does exist in different versions that use Exeggutor ex or Serperior along with Celebi ex.

How to Play

Leafeon ex Ramp

A1a-061
A2a-010

We’re evolving Leafeon ex from Eevee and have it in the Active spot early into the game. This lets us activate Forest Breath to ramp a Grass Energy and attach it to one of our Grass-type Pokemon. Since Leafeon ex is a Grass-type Pokemon, you can attach the Grass Energy to it, speeding up your attack turn as early as turn 4.

For 3 Energy, Leafeon ex attacks with Solar Beam, dealing 70 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon. As you’re attacking with Leafeon ex, you can continue to ramp with Forest Breath, attaching the Grass Energy to your other Leafeon ex or Celebi ex.

Celebi ex Carry

A1a-003

Celebi ex is how we finish games, it’s only a 130 HP Pokemon, but the Powerful Bloom can deal a whole lot of damage at the right time in the game. For 2 Energy, you can activate Power Bloom and flip a coin for each Energy attached to this Pokemon. This attack does 50 damage for each heads.

So we’re relying on the luck of the coin to deal damage with Powerful Bloom. The more Energy we attach to Celebi Ex, the higher the ceiling of our damage, and the higher our odds of getting the damage we need to knock out a certain Pokemon. This is why Leafeon ex‘s Forest Breath ability fits perfectly with what Celebi ex is trying to do, getting more Grass Energy attached to it for a powerful attack to knockout high HP Pokemon.

Poke Ball can draw an Eevee or Celebi ex, making sure you have an Eevee early on to evolve into Leafeon ex, or a Celebi ex on the Bench to attach Grass Energy to.

Pokemon Communication increases the odds of finding Leafeon Ex to have it in the Active spot as early as possible.

Professor’s Research is a Supporter card to draw 2 cards. Since it’s a Supporter card, you want to play it early into the game since you’ll want to play your other Supporters in the late game.

Defensive Cards

Erika is probably the strongest Supporter card in this deck, healing 50 damage from 1 of your Grass Pokemon. This puts one of your Pokemon out of range from opponent’s upcoming attack, preventing them from knocking out your win condition and getting Match Points.

As for Potion, it heals for 20 damage, but since it’s not a Supporter card, you are always able to play it and it’s not tied to Grass type Pokemon only.

Giant Cape gives +20 HP to your Pokemon, which we’ll usually attach it to Leafeon ex to turn it into a 160 HP Pokemon, making it harder for the opponent to knock it out.

Battle Cards

Leafeon ex and Celebi ex have a retreat cost of 1 Energy, so X Speed is enough to get them out of the Active spot and prevent the opposing player from knocking them out.

A1-225
A2-150

Sabrina forces opponents to switch out their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon. This can allow you to knock out a more valuable Pokemon or slow opponent’s strategy and force them to retreat and discard Energy to get their plan back on track.

Since we’re dealing a lot of damage to the opponent’s Pokemon, Cyrus is great in this list, giving us the ability to pull a damaged Pokemon on the Bench to the Active spot and attack it directly.

Other Cards to Include

A2a-072

You can run Water Energy in the Leafeon Celebi deck along with Irida, giving you a way to protect your Pokemon by attaching Water Energy on them. Since their attacks require Colorless Energy, Water Energy will work fine here to still attack without slowing down your strategy.

Pros & Cons

  • This deck can deal high damage, capable of knocking out anything in its path.
  • The Erika Grass healing can be a game changer. This list has multiple cards to keep your Pokemon from easily getting knocked out.
  • Celebi ex’s 130 HP makes it easy to get one-shot by many ex Pokemon.
  • You’re relying on luck with Coin flips, and there are games where you might not get the heads.
  • Fire decks can deal more damage to our Grass type Pokemon, so they could one-shot our carries.
