With the first episode of Wind Breaker out, I sat down and watched the show, curious about what the new anime has to offer! I never read the manga, so I wasn’t too sure what I was diving into. Season 1 of Wind Breaker will have a total of 12 episodes.
At the start of the first episode, we’re introduced to Haruka Sakura, a new lonely first-year high school student at Furin High School. The school is considered for “delinquents”, but Haruka later learns that those delinquents are actually the protectors of the town.
Hakura Sakura has a striking appearance with white hair cascading down on the left side of his face, while sleek black hair frames the right. Their eyes are heterochromatic, with one eye being a deep black and the other a warm honey color.
The show is full of action-packed fights! This is clear from the first episode, as Haruka shows off his fighting skills as he goes up against a gang of bullies, wreaking havoc on the town and threatening the girl he just met, Kotoha Tachibana.
Wind Breaker highly resembles Tokyo Revengers, where a bunch of delinquents squares off in gruesome fights, to prove their authority over another gang or a certain town. One major difference between the main characters of both shows is unlike Takemichi Hanagaki from Tokyo Revengers, Haruka Sakura doesn’t stand there and take a beating, he’s actually quite skilled and can handle a dozen fighters on his own.
If you’re into shows that involve street fighting, hand-to-hand combat, and gang clashes, then Wind Breaker is your next anime to pick up!
