Green Yellow Yamato Deck Guide OP08

Green Yellow Yamato won first place in a tournament in Japan, adding a couple of OP08 cards to the list. This Leader can be a aggressive with their Double Attack, putting opponent at risk of losing two of their Life cards and creating opportunities for aggressive attacks.

How to Play

Yamato‘s ability to Double Attack forces the opposing player to take a defensive approach to our attacks, either by playing a blocker or committing Counter plays. If one of our attacks goes through, we can go for a full-on aggressive turn and try to keep the pressure going to win the game quickly.

Additionally, Yamato can give 2 rested Don to one Character, boosting their offensive power and making it difficult for opponent to deal with the attack.

This list heavily relies on Yamato‘s Double Attack, including cards like Jewelry Bonney and S-Shark that synergize with Leader’s attacks. Every time you damage opponent’s Leader, Jewelry Bonney draws two cards and trashes 1. This is a value card that finds us crucial resources for the late game.

As for S-Shark, he works best in the later stages of the game, shutting down the opponent’s blockers and allowing him to strike down the Leader. He can be a finisher play if you drop them to 0 Life cards.

With Leader effect, we can easily give these two characters 2 Don to activate their effects.

Blockers protect our Leader or rested attackers that we rely on to keep the pressure. Shirahoshi is powerful because if the opponent KO’s her through an effect, we’ll get a Life card. Sanji is just a 4-cost blocker with a good trigger effect that lets us play him without spending Don. We do though have to trash a card to play him.

Rusher Ace immediatly puts aggression the turn he’s played, especially that Yamato can boost his Power to 9K. We’re fine taking the first to hits on our Leader so Ace can gain Rush early into the game.

Hody Jones is our best card for immediate aggression, resting two of the opponent’s Characters, which basically shuts down blockers and lets us go all out on their Leader, With Yamato‘s 2 Don effect, we can boost Hody Jones attack power making it almost impossible to protect against it.

As for Roronoa Zoro, he doesn’t present a threat on the turn he’s played and we’re betting on him sticking on the board. If he stays on the board, we’re probably winning the game on our attack turn. For 3 Don, Roronoa Zoro can attack three times in one turn, demolishing opponent’s Leader and winning the game.

Events

Since we’re an aggressive deck, the list runs a couple of Events to protect our Leader or carry Characters and give us that extra turn to win the game.

You’re the One Who Should Disappear is a 0-cost Counter card that gives Leader or a Character +3K Power. You will have to trash a card to activate the Event, so choose a card you don’t expect to play in the upcoming turns.

Flame Dragon King is a powerful Event but can be a bit costy to play. The +4K Power boost can shut down a high power attack and gives you information on the cards you have in the Life area. It also allows you to reorder them, letting you put the most important ones at the top of your Life area. Its trigger effect lets you take a Life card and add another card from your hand in its place. This lets you put a powerful trigger card at the top of your Life cards for you to find use off of it.

Blaze Slice can be played either defensively or offensively. If you’re worried opponent is trying to set up a winning play, Blaze Slice gives you a + 1K Power boost and rests one of their attackers, slowing down their aggression and buying you an extra turn. It can be played on the offense, giving a boost to one of your attackers and resting a 4-cost blocker, letting you attack their Leader directly.

Straw Sword can rest a Character regardless of its cost. We’ll usually play this Event on blockers to create an aggressive turn to win the game.

Other Cards to Include

O-Nami synergizes with Yamato since if the Doube Attack goes through, you’ll Trash two of the opponent’s Life cards. O-Nami also has one of the strongest Trigger effects, KOing a 5-cost Character.

Izo is a +2K Counter that can be used to rest a 4-cost blocker.
