Learn how to play the Hela deck in our Marvel Snap guide.

This Hela deck is making waves in the Marvel Snap meta. Using cards like Red Hulk, Magneto, The Infinaut, and Death as late-game winners.

This is a combo deck that wants to have the right pieces in hand to set up its game plan. Cards like Jubilee and Lockjaw are key cards to set up your stronger cards.

The Hela deck aims to discard high-power cards and resurrect them with Hela to dominate the game. We have other tools like Black Knight, Jubilee, and Lockjaw to take advantage of those high-power cards in our deck.

This is a combo deck, so it’s important to set up plays at the right time, especially with Black Knight’s Ebony Blade, Junbilee, and Lockjaw.

Early Win Condition

After you discard a card, add the Ebony Blade to your hand with that card’s Power. (once per game)
On Reveal: Discard the highest-cost card from your hand.

One of the strongest cards in the deck but you want to have it early in the game to get the Ebony Blade. Ideally, you want to play Black Knight before turn 4.

Ebony Blade will end up gaining a lot of Power if you discard one of your high-power cards, turning it into a win condition that can’t be dealt with by cards like Shadow King or Shang-Chi.

Discard Cards

On Reveal: Discard the rightmost card from your hand.
On Reveal: Discard the highest-cost card from your hand.
If this is in your hand after the turn, discard it.

Blade offers that follow-up discard mechanic you’ll need to get your Ebony Blade. Knowing that Blade will discard the rightmost card from your hand means we don’t have to deal with any randomness in our games, allowing us to fully commit to the Blade play with no downsides.

Lady Sif is another discard card that is easier to set up than Blade. She’ll always discard the highest-cost card, so we’ll get to hit targets like Death, The Infinaut, Red Hulk, or Magneto.

If you have Death in your hand, you’re guaranteed to discard her instead of your 6-costs. You want to avoid discarding Hela as she plays a key role in dominating locations so Death is there to protect her.

Black Cat’s 9 Power and self discard synergize with Black Knight. You can play Black Night, Black Cat self-discards, and then you’ll add an Ebony Blade with 9 Power in hand. Even if you don’t manage to combo it with Black Night, just her getting discarded means Hela will bring her back onto the board, so you’re never really losing the Black Cat value.

The Combo Cards

At the end of the game, discard a card from your hand to gain its Power.
On Reveal: Add the top card of your deck to this location.
After you play a card here, swap it with a card in your deck. (once per turn)

Dracula could become a win condition depending on the card he discards. Since the majority of the deck runs high-power cards, we’re likely to hit the cards we need with Dracula. However, there are still cases where you might end up discarding cards like Blade or Jubilee, which can be detrimental to winning a location.

Jubilee is one of the strongest plays for this deck, especially if you have a Lockjaw on the board. So you’ll aim to have her on the board on turn 5 if you have a Lockjaw in hand. She can add the top card of your deck into the location she’s played in, so we can get hits like Magneto, Hela, or Red Hulk.

Lockjaw isn’t a main part of the deck’s game plan, but it can bring out stronger cards onto the board. Cards like Jubilee or Blade have low Power compared to most of the other cards in the deck, so if you have Lockjaw on the board and you drop Jubilee, you still get to activate her effect and then swap her for a higher-power card.

The main win condition

On Reveal: Resurrect all cards you discarded to random locations.

Hela is the strongest late-game play for this deck, allowing you to resurrect all cards you discarded. She will resurrect those cards at random locations, so it might not always go to plan. You could play Hela on a location you’re not in danger of losing to increase the odds of her resurrecting higher-power cards on other locations.

High-Power Cards

On Reveal: Move all enemy 3 and 4-Cost cards to this location.
When your opponent ends a turn with unspent Energy, +4 Power. (if in hand or in play)
If you played a card last turn, you can’t play this.

Magneto can mess up the opponent’s game plan with his ability to move their 3 and 4-cost cards to the location he’s in. Getting to move cards like Ms. Marvel can be a game swinger.

Red Hulk is in the deck for his high power that either Jubilee or Hela can bring onto the board. If your opponent doesn’t spend all their mana every single turn, Red Hulk will gain a lot of Power and can single-handedly win a location.

The Infinaut is difficult to play from hand and you’re not really looking to skip turn 5 to drop him on turn 6. He’s more so in the list as a good card to either discard for Ebony Blade or resurrect with Death, play through Jubilee, or have Dracula take his Power.

Costs 1 less for each card destroyed this game.

As I said before, Death is mainly on the list to protect Hela from getting discarded by Lady Sif. She also finds value if Jubilee pulls her on the board or is resurrected by Hela.
