Celebi Ex Serperior Deck Guide – Pokemon TCG Pocket

Celebi ex Serperior is the new monster deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket, crushing the early days of Mythical Island meta and it's a deck to watch out for in tournaments!

The Mythical Island is finally out and we have many cards to explore and figure out how they fit in the upcoming meta. Even older decks need to be tweaked, having access to better cards that fit their strategies. Two Pokemon that caught players’ attention and quickly paired together are Celebi Ex and Serperior.

The Grass deck makes use of the synergy between those two Pokemon to go for heavy attacks with Celebi Ex and get knockouts on high HP Pokemon.

Celebi Ex Serperior Decklist

How to Play

Damage Dealer

Celebi ex is how we win games, it’s only a 130 HP Pokemon, but the Powerful Bloom can deal a whole lot of damage at the right time in the game. For 2 Energy, you can activate Power Bloom and flip a coin for each Energy attached to this Pokemon. This attack does 50 damage for each heads.

So we’re relying on the luck of the coin to deal damage with Powerful Bloom. The more Energy we attach to Celebi ex, the higher the ceiling of our damage, and the higher our odds of getting the damage we need to knock out a certain Pokemon.

Damage Amplifier

Serperior is a must in this deck to amplify Celebi Ex‘s Powerful Bloom attack. Serperior‘s Jungle Totem ability counts each Grass Energy you have attached to a Grass Pokemon as 2 Grass Energy. If Celebi ex has 2 Grass Energy attached to it, you now have 4 Grass Energy, giving you Powerful Bloom attack 4 Coin flips, and a maximum of 200 damage.

Adding another Energy and going up to 3, you’ll get 6 Coin flips and a maximum of 300 damage, you get the gist. Serperior can chill on the Bench, empower your Celebi Ex‘s attacks, and leave the rest for the Powerful Bloom to knock out opponent’s wincons.

Solar Beam attack costs 4 Energy to activate, but with Jungle Totem, you’ll only need to attach 2 Grass Energy on Serperior to make use of the 70 damage if need be.

Serperior being a Stage 2 Pokemon means we need to find Snivy and Servine as quickly as possible to get access to Serperior‘s Jungle Totem ability. We can have them in the Active spot early in the game, but it’s crucial we don’t allow them to get knocked out, as we’ll fall behind in the game by not evolving Servine into Serperior.

Early Tank

Dhelmise is another damage dealer, but can also be used to tank early hits as we evolve our Pokemon and get our win condition online. Dhelmise‘s Energy Whip costs only 1 Energy to activate, but the 20 damage isn’t offering much. However, if you attach 3 Extra Energy onto Dhelmise, Energy Whip becomes a 90 damage attack.

So if we have Serperior on the Bench, Jungle Totem will do its work here, lowering the condition to only 1 extra Grass Energy. So with 2 Grass Energy attached to Dhelmise, it’s going to deal 90 damage.

Battle Cards

Erika is probably the strongest Supporter card in this deck, healing 40 damage from 1 of your Grass Pokemon. This puts one of your Pokemon out of range from opponent’s upcoming attack, preventing them from knocking out your win condition and getting Match Points.

Sabrina forces the opponent to switch one of their Benched Pokemon to the Active spot. This can be annoying when played at the right time, especially if the opponent can’t easily switch back the Pokemon they want to the Active spot or have a valuable Pokemon on the Bench. It also can be used to target vulnerable Pokemon, netting you the Match Point to win the game.

X-Speed and Leaf help you retreat your Pokemon to your Bench and have another Character take their place. X-Speed is an Item card, that reduces the retreat cost of your Active Pokemon by 1. As for Leaf, it’s a Supporter card that reduces the retreat cost of your Active Pokemon by 2.

These are perfect cards to get your Pokemon to safety without having to attach Energy to then and slow down or weaken your attacks.

Draw Value

Play Professor’s Research, a Supporter card that allows you to draw two cards, early in the game when you don’t need to play other Supporter cards like Sabrina or Giovanni.

Pokeball draws you a Basic Pokemon, helping you find Snivy for the early game or Celebi ex for a win condition.

Other Card to Include

  • Chatot‘s Mimic is great for the early game, giving you extra draws after you’ve played most cards in your hand.
  • You can add 1 copy of Giovanni if you need that extra +10 damage.

Pros and Cons

  • This deck can deal high damage, capable of knocking out anything in its path.
  • The Erika Grass healing can be a game changer.
  • Celebi ex’s 130 HP makes it easy to get one-shot by many ex Pokemon.
  • You’re relying on luck with Coin flips, and there are games where you might not get the heads.
