Best One Piece OP08.5 Tournament Decks – One Piece Card Game

The OP08.5 will have new Starter 15-20 cards, giving multiple decks in the meta new tools to add to their lists. This will change the OP08 meta, so I’ll provide top decks that will perform in tournaments.

Blue Doflamingo

Blue Doflamingo gained new {Seven Warlords of the Sea} cards in the Starter 17 deck, giving the deck a better performance in the OP08 meta. This is one of the best decks for tournaments and has been crushing the East’s scene with the value it creates.

How does the deck work?

This deck uses Leader Doffy‘s effect to play out a {Seven Warlords of the Sea} Character from the top of your deck. You’re using 3 Don to play a 4-cost Character, and two of those Don are used to increase your Leader’s attack Power. We’re creating a high-power attack with the Leader and playing out a Character at the same time.

To make sure we have the right 4-cost {Seven Warlords of the Sea} Character at the top of our deck, Perona or Buggy can rearrange the top cards in our deck, gaining the most out of our Leader Doffy‘s attack. Jinbe lets us go wide on the field, developing an extra Character that creates opportunities for more aggressive turns.

Many lists are still running 10-cost Kaido, mostly for the draw power and a high-cost threat, difficult to remove from the field.

Black Rob Lucci

Black Rob Lucci is a consistent deck in OP08 meta, beating most of the meta field. The list has the control tools to slow down opponents’ aggression, prolonging the game until you start taking over.

How does the deck work?

The Rob Lucci deck uses cost-reduction cards to put Characters in range for your KO cards to remove them. 4-cost Rob Lucci is the main control card you’ll rely on in this deck, capable of KOing two targets. You can also play Rob Lucci from Trash through Spandine or Geko Moria. 3-cost Brook and 7-cost Jack are other ways you can KO Characters.

Gecko Moria is the strongest play for this deck, developing multiple Characters on the field that synergize with one another to control the opponent’s side.

Purple Monkey D.Luffy

Purple Luffy gained multiple new cards from the Starter 18 release, changing up its mid-game strategy. The Purple ramp deck has already been performing well in OP08 meta, going head to head with the popular Black Rob Lucci.

How does the deck work?

This deck uses Leader Purple Luffy‘s Ramp effect to play high-cost Characters as early as possible. So by turn 2, you can start developing a formidable field presence to put pressure on the opponent.

Son-Gorou, Zoro-Juurou, and Queen offer resource value through their effects, making sure you can continue to make big plays. 7-cost Luffy-Tarou is a strong addition to the list, cheating out a 5-cost or less {Straw Hat Crew} type Character to go wide.

9-cost Kaido KO’s a 6-cost Character and goes for a Rush attack, creating pressure on the turn he’s played. You can run cards like 10-cost Monkey D.Luffy, 9-cost Charlotte Linlin, and 10-cost Kaido & Linlin.

Black Yellow Monkey D.Luffy

Black Yellow Luffy is still holding its own in OP08 meta, even though the deck didn’t receive any new support in OP08’s release. This is a tough deck to fully master, minor mistakes will cost you the game or ruin your combo turn.

How does the deck work?

The Black Yellow Luffy deck wants to drop to 0 Life cards to activate the Leader effect, placing two Adult brothers (LuffyAce, or Sabo) in your Life area, faceup. Afterward, you want to play the kid brothers and activate their effects, letting you play their older versions from the Life area and onto the field. This builds up a stronger field and boosts the Power of your Leader for offensive and defensive value.

Gecko Moria is this deck’s strongest play and the main reason it remains a competitive meta choice. You need to be at 0 Life cards when you’re at 10 Don, putting two adults from the trash in your Life Area and using Gecko Moria to bring back two kid brothers, basically developing three Characters in one turn.

Red Blue Marco

Red Blue Marco didn’t find success in the early OP08 meta, but it should have a better experience in OP08.5. The new Starter 17 cards give the deck a better mid-game.

How does the deck work?

Red Blue Marco deck revolves around the Leader’s effect, giving a Character -2,000 Power makes it easier for you to attack and KO. It also synergizes with KO cards like 5-cost Marco, 7-cost Edward Newgate, and Silvers Rayleigh to KO higher-power Characters.

Moreover, Leader Marco‘s ability to place a card at the top of the deck works perfectly with 9-cost Sanji. At the 10 Don turn, you can play both Sanji and 9-cost Edward Newgate, developing two big bodies in one turn.

Green Jewelry Bonney

This deck is a defensive wall, forcing games to stretch out where both players will be relying on their late-game win conditions. There are two versions in OP08 meta, one favoring the Fortress strategy where the other prefers cards like 9-cost Roronoa Zoro and 8-cost Rosinante.

How does the deck work?

This is a stall deck that uses Leader Bonney’s effect to rest the opponent’s Leader or one of their Characters from attacking, slowing down their aggression. This requires you to save 1 Don for your defensive turn to activate Bonney’s effect. Urouge and Cavendish give you extra Don, making it easier for you to activate Leader effect and maintain your field development.

Hody Jones and Roronoa Zoro are the main win cons. Hody Jones can rest two of the opponent’s Characters, letting you choose between either KOing those Characters or attacking the Leader. As for Roronoa Zoro, if he gets to attack three times, you’re likely winning the game at that point or forcing a lot of resources from the opponent to survive.

Vismoke Reiju is a safe choice to bring to tournaments. It is capable of giving decks like Black Rob Lucci, Blue Nami, Blue Doffy, and Purple Luffy a run for their money. Players will always bring Reiju to tournaments as it’s a reliable choice against most of the meta, especially with RP Law not existing in this new meta.

How does the deck work?

The Purple-Blue Vinsmoke Reiju deck revolves around Vinsmoke Characters like Reiju, Niji, and Ichiji as key cards of its strategy. The lower-cost versions can cheat out their higher-cost counterparts from the Trash or hand but require you to return 1 Don to activate their effects. Returning a Don also triggers your Leader’s effect, allowing you to draw a card for extra value.

The 3-cost Porche sets up an aggressive tempo, playing one of your low-cost Vinsmoke Characters, who in turn cheats out their higher-cost version—developing two Characters in the early game.

8-cost Vinsmoke Judge is the deck’s strongest play, enabling you to flood the field with multiple Vinsmoke Characters. The sheer number of Characters can overwhelm opponents, setting you up for a decisive turn to close out the game.

Yellow Enel

If you’ve been a Yellow Enel player since OP05 days, then you’re in luck, the Yellow deck continues to perform in OP08 meta.

Most of the list didn’t change at all compared to OP07, but players in the East started running the 30 Million Volt Thunderbird Event as an early answer to Black Maria.

How does the deck work?

Yellow Enel is a control deck that tries to starve opponent and KO their Characters with GedatsuMonkey.D.LuffyNamiKingdom Come, and Yamato.

Leader EnelYamato, and Portgas.D.Ace giving you a Life card creates more resource value and forces more attacks from the opponent to win the game. The longer the game takes the more likely the opposing player will run out of steam, eventually not having the attack power to pose any threat.
