The Championship series in Japan has been a thrilling showcase of top-tier OPTCG talent, with some of the best players battling it out in some of the most intense matches we’ve seen. This week’s event in Fukuoka gave us a deeper look into the evolving OP12 meta—and it didn’t disappoint. One of the biggest surprises was the incredible run by Green Blue Zoro & Sanji, an off-meta deck, which powered its way to the finals. Its performance was a strong reminder that in high-level play, underdog strategies can still defy expectations and leave a lasting mark on the tournament scene.
This is OP12.5 meta, which means players are using the new Starter cards in their decks, giving multiple archetypes a boost in their overall performance.

First Place Green Yellow Law

Green Yellow Trafalgar Law managed to win first place in the Fukuoka Championship! This deck is all about cheating out 5-cost Supernova-type Characters from the top of your Life card. It’s a tough deck to play optimally, as you’ll be comboing cards together to get your Characters in play, and understanding your opponent’s capabilities allows you to weigh the risks of losing a Life card to go wider on the field.
This is list is not a running 5-cost Bonney; instead, it’s relying on Cavendish for the early game and 5-cost Law as a blocker to protect us from an attack. We’re running 5 copies of ST02 Law, meaning we’ll be going for aggressive two-attack turns with one of our 5-cost Supernova Characters, creating an opportunity to set up heavy attacks, too difficult for the opposing player to block.
The 2-cost Bege gave this deck a massive boost, punishing the opposing player if they remove your Supernova Characters through an effect. The Life cards you gain give you more survivability, and you can cheat out the Supernova on the field through your Leader’s effect.
7-cost Law is there to give us a Life card, and since we can choose the Supernova Character to add to our Life Area, we can combo it with our Leader’s effect to immediately cheat it out on the field, developing two Characters in one turn!
Demon Aura Nine Sword Style Asura Blades Drawn Dead Man’s Game is for the Counter effect, but can also rest two of the opponent’s Don, perfect against the likes of Green Purple and Blue Purple Luffy.
No Hody Jones in this list, which is usually a popular inclusion in GY Law.
Second Place Green Blue Zoro & Sanji

Green Blue Roronoa Zoro & Sanji has an intriguing effect that lets us return 1 cost 2 or more Characters to our hand to set a 7,000 Power or less Character as Active. This effect is doing two things: adding a card to our hand to use it again for its On Play or Counter effect, and enabling us to attack with a Character a second time, creating an aggressive turn.
This deck is running multiple 4-cost Characters like Roronoa Zoro for board control, Edward Weavil and Cavendish for the card draw, and Arlong to shut down the opponent’s Leader from attacking. All these Characters have the Slash attribute, which means we can cheat them out through Dracule Mihawk to go wider on the field.
The 5-cost Smoker is one of our strongest choices in this deck, turning 1 rested Don as Active to make more plays. Additionally, with the Banish keyword, we’ll prioritize attacking the opponent’s Leader with Smoker, threatening to trash one of their Life cards and forcing them to expend Counter resources. Since Smoker is a 7,000 Power Character, we can use Leader Zoro & Sanji’s effect to set him as Active, allowing us to go for a second attack with the Banish keyword, making it even harder for them to Counter out of a second attack.
This list is heavy on the draw options, so we don’t run out of resources. Vander Decken IX is also trashing a card from your hand to KO a rested Character, so we want to have added resources to not fall behind in value while still maintaining control of the field.
Hody Jones is the win condition, going for a Rush attack and resting two of the opponent’s Characters or Don. This works best if your opponent has blockers preventing us from connecting with their Leader, or they’re holding onto Active Don to play their Counter Events.
