Green Carrot Deck Guide – One Piece Card Game

Green Carrot deck is all about Minks type Characters, trying to stall out games by keeping opponent's Characters rested.

Green Carrot is an OP08 Leader that revolves around resting opponents’ Characters, slowing their pace down, and stretching out games until you have your win condition in play. This is a Minks type Leader, which relies on Minks Characters as part of its strategy, so if you’re a fan of furry One Piece Characters and want to play a deck that holds up against popular meta decks, Carrot is likely your best choice. Green Carrot received new support cards in the Starter 24, giving the deck a better late-game win condition for the OP11 and OP12 metas.

The general strategy of this deck involves stalling the game by resting opponents’ Characters, lowering their aggression, and prolonging the game into the late stages. You have more time to set up the winning turn and even run opponents out of resources.

Leader

OP08-021

During your turn, Leader Carrot can rest one of the opponent’s Characters with a cost of 5 or less, making it vulnerable to your attacks. However, you must have a {Minks} type Character on the field to activate Carrot‘s effect.

This resting effect is limited to 5-cost or less Characters but enables you to control the early to mid-game board and force your opponent to play more Counter cards to protect those Characters. Additionally, this Green Carrot has multiple cards like 5-cost Bonney and Bepo & Law that find use when the opponent has rested Characters, enabling you to keep them rested throughout the game. With Leader Carrot‘s effect, you can set the stage for the cards to activate their effects and keep a rested Character from becoming Active.

Leader Carrot‘s effect is also a great method to rest a Blocker, preventing it from blocking one of your attacks. This is useful if you’re trying to win the game and planning to shift your attacks on the opponent’s leader.

Since you need to have a {Minks} type Character on the field to activate Carrot‘s effect, the list is full of them, and low-cost Minks will be perfect for the early game.

How to Play

Green Carrot deck wants to keep opponent’s Characters rested for as long as possible, slowing them down from attacking your Leader or Characters. Using Leader Carrot‘s effect, you can rest Characters to make it easier for you to activate your cards’ effects and keep them rested.

By keeping your opponent’s Characters rested and preventing them from attacking, you can focus on attacking their Leader, without having to worry about their Characters attacking you. This forces opponents to play differently and take a defensive approach.

Early Searcher

OP08-034
EB02-013

Wanda is a 1-cost Minks that looks at the top 5 cards in your deck to add 1 {Minks} type Character to your hand. This helps you plan your future turns and have the 5-cost {Minks} type Character you need for your mid-game.

1-cost Carrot can activate her searcher effect only if you have 3 or more Don, which means you can’t play her on turn 1. When played, Carrot looks at the top 7 cards of your deck to find your Zou stage. Then, Carrot lets you play a Zou from your hand without having to spend 3 Don. Carrot can be useful in the early and late game, developing your Zou for less Don, which can be essential in the late game if you don’t want to sacrifice your board development to develop your Zou stage.

Stage Zou

OP08-039

We want to have Zou in play as early as possible, think of it as an investment for stronger future turns. It has two effects, the first lets you set one of your rested Don as Active, allowing you to make more plays. The extra Don can be used to go for stronger attacks or to develop two Characters in one turn.

As for its second effect, it can be activated at the end of your turn and only works on {Minks} type Characters. At the end of your turn, Zou can set 1 of your {Minks} type as Active, preventing opponents from attacking it.

Blockers

P-070
OP07-031
OP08-030

2-cost Carrot is a low-cost Minks-type Blocker that helps protect our Leader or a rested Character while also enabling our Leader’s effect to rest an opponent’s Character.

As for Bartolomeo, he’s a 3-cost Blocker that synergizes with what this deck does. Whenever we rest a Character using our Leader effect, we trigger Bartolomeo‘s effect to draw a card and trash a card from your hand, filtering for better cards.

You can also trigger Bartolomeo when you rest your Characters using a card like You can be my Samurai.

As for 4-cost Pedro, he’s a 5,000 Power Blocker that, when KO’d, does one of two things: rest one of the opponent’s Don or KO one of the opponent’s rested Characters with a cost of 6 or less. Since he’s a Blocker, we have control over when to force opponents to KO when they attack. He’s a solid early game play that punishes your opponent when attacking, weakening their side of the field and slowing their pace.

5-cost Stall

OP08-023
OP07-026

These are 5-cost characters that can keep your opponent’s Characters rested, slowing down their upcoming attack turn. This saves you from playing more Counter cards and helps you prolong games until you can get the win.

5-cost Carrot is one of your strongest options to keep a 7-cost or less Character rested, preventing it from going Active on the upcoming turn. What makes Carrot a strong option is her ability to reactivate her effect when she attacks, remaining a nuisance for opponents, and forcing them to shift their focus to removing her from play. You can combo her with your Leader’s effect, but you’ll need another Minks Character in play to activate your Leader’s effect before going for 5-cost Carrot‘s On Play effect.

As for 5-cost Jewelry Bonney, she’s a better option if you want to keep an 8+ cost Character rested. Additionally, Jewelry Bonney can keep one of the opponent’s Don rested, preventing them from making certain plays on their upcoming turn.

Smoker Pressure

OP10-030

Smoker is great for pressuring the opposing player’s Life cards. He’s a 7,000 Power Character with the Banish keyword, which means we’ll prioritize attacking the opponent’s Leader to force them to commit their Counter resources to save their Life card from getting trashed.

Once per turn, Smoker can set one rested Don as Active, allowing you to use the additional Don for a heavier attack or to play two Characters in one turn to go wider on the field.

Rush Attack

OP06-035

7-cost Hody Jones is an 8,000 Power Rush attacker that poses an immediate threat when played. He can rest two of the opponent’s Characters and Don before going for an attack. Resting two Characters is useful if there are blockers in your path, preventing you from attacking the opponent’s Leader. If you’re aiming to control the field, you can shift your focus to their rested Characters, trying to take things to the late game. If there’s a Carrot in play, you can keep a 6-cost or less Character from becoming Active on the upcoming turn.

Hody Jones can target Active Don to rest them, which can be troublesome for some decks that rely on those Active Don to play their Counter events. This can put the opposing player in a tough spot, especially if you’re setting up a winning turn.

Late-Game Control

ST16-004

Green Shanks is your strongest removal tool, capable of KOing a rested Character regardless of its cost. You can use him to KO a rested win condition and shift the field presence in your favor. You’re removing a Character while also developing an 11,000 Power Character, capable of going for heavy attacks that can’t easily be Countered.

ST24-004

Law & Bepo is the newest addition to this deck, being a Minks-type Character, it allows you to activate your Leader’s effect. Law & Bepo is an 11,000 Power Character, so it’s a tanky Character that can go for heavy attacks and will be a challenge for most decks to remove. On Play, Law & Bepo can rest an opponent’s Character and prevent it from becoming Active on the upcoming turn. If your opponent has 2 rested Characters in play, Leader Carrot will gain a +2,000 Power boost that sticks until the end of the opponent’s turn.

Since Law & Bepo is resting a Character, you’ll only need one other rested Character to activate the Power boost effect. If there is no rested Character in play, you can go for the Leader Carrot effect to rest a Character before playing Law & Bepo.

Events

OP05-037
OP01-055

Because the Side of Justice Will Be Whichever Side Wins!! is a 0-cost Counter event that trashes a card from your hand to give your Leader or one of your Characters a +3,000 Power boost. It protects you from an attack and since we have a lot of cards with no Counter effect, we can trash those to get rid of dead cards.

You Can Be My Samurai rests two of your Characters to draw two cards. It’s most effective when used on low-cost Characters like 1-cost Carrot, Wanda, or 2-cost Carrot—even those you just played. Ideally, you want to avoid resting Characters that can attack and pressure your opponent into Counter plays. Drawing two cards gives you valuable hand advantage, helping you outvalue your opponent over time. If you’re using Zou, you can re-stand a rested Character like 2-cost Carrot and still keep her available as a blocker.

Mulligan

Going First: 1-cost Carrot or 1-cost Wanda, Zou, 5-cost Smoker.

Going Second: 1-cost Carrot or 1-cost Wanda, Zou, 2-cost Carrot, 5-cost Carrot.

Other Cards to Include

OP08-024
OP08-022
OP06-118
  • 3-cost Concelot can be played early in the game, but you’ll only get value from it when it starts attacking. Concelot can keep one of your opponent’s 4-cost or less Characters rested, preventing them from going Active on their upcoming turn. This drops their aggression on your Leader or Characters as you slowly build up your field with multiple Characters. Since Concelot is a 4,000 Power Character, you often will be forced to attach 1 Don to it to turn into a 5,000 Power attacker that forces the opposing player to play a Counter card.
  • 5-cost Inuarashi is best played if opponent has multiple Characters with a cost of 5 or less, allowing us to keep them rested and slowing opponent’s pace.
  • 9-cost Roronoa Zoro is a late-game win condition, capable of going for 3 attacks in one turn. If your opponent can’t remove it, they’ll struggle to survive on your upcoming attack turn.
OP08-028
OP04-119
OP04-031
OP08-036
  • If you need to go for more aggressive attacks, 5-cost Nekomamushi is a Rush attacker, capable of going for an immediate attack to target the opponent’s Leader or a rested Character. To gain Rush on Nekomamushi, your opponent has to have 7 or more rested cards, this includes Don cards as well.
  • 8-cost Donquixote Rosinante is your strongest play on Don 8, letting you cheat out a 5-cost Green Character. The 5-cost Character you decide to cheat out will depend on what opponent has in play. Carrot is great to keep 1 Character rested, Inuarashi to keep 2 Characters rested, and Nekomamushi for the Rush attack. As long as Donquixote Rosinante is in play and rested, your opponent can’t KO you active 5 cost Characters through effects. Which makes Zou an even stronger Stage in this scenario.
  • 10-cost Donquixote Doflamingo is a late-game play that keeps three of the opponent’s rested Leader and Characters from becoming Active on the upcoming turn. This can be a huge play to slow opponents down, especially if they rely on their Leader’s attack to activate an effect. You’re developing a 10,000 Power Character and slowing your opponent’s upcoming aggression, helping you survive for longer in your game.
  • If your opponent has multiple Characters in play, Electrical Luna can keep three 7-cost or less Characters from becoming Active, slowing opponent’s upcoming turn for only 3 Don.

Closing Words

Green Carrot is all about resting Characters and keeping them from becoming Active, making it harder for the opponent to go for aggressive attacks. The stall enables you to attack their Leader and focus on taking their Life cards, slowly dropping them in the danger zone and lining up the winning turn.
