Buzzwole ex Pheromosa Celesteela Deck Guide – Pokemon TCG Pocket

Buzzwole ex Pheromosa Celesteela is the newest Grass-type deck in Pokémon Pocket, using the Ultra Beast Pokémon to their full potential. Celesteela is the supporting Pokémon, allowing you to switch out your Ultra Beast without worrying about Energy discard. This helps you keep attacking the opposing player and even gets low HP Pokémon out of harm’s way.

How to Play

Pheromosa

A3a-007

Pheromosa is our early attacker, requiring only 1 Grass Energy to deal 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon and another 20 damage to a Benched Pokémon. Jump Blues attack chips away at the HP of two of the opponent’s Pokémon, making them vulnerable to your Buzzwole ex later in the game.

Buzzwole ex

A3a-006

Buzzwole ex is the carry, having 140 HP and two attacks to choose from. Early on, you can go for the Punch attack to deal 30 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon; however, Big Beat is where the real damage lies. For 3 Energy, you can activate Big Beat to go for a 120 damage attack to the opponent’s Active Pokémon.

However, Buzzwole ex‘s Big Beat cannot be activated on the upcoming turn, so you’re forced to retreat your Pokémon and have another Pokémon take its place. Luckily, we have Celesteela in the deck, making it easier for us to retreat our Pokémon without worrying about discarding Energy.

Celesteela

A3a-062

Celesteela is there to help support our Ultra Beast Pokémon through its Ultra Thrusters ability, allowing us to switch an Active Ultra Beast with a Benched Ultra Beast. This helps us move our Buzzwole ex back to the Active spot to activate its Big Beat attack. We will never go for the Moombahton attack since it’s too expensive and we have a 50% chance of dealing the 100 damage or doing nothing.

Draw Cards

P-A-007

Since all our Pokémon are basic, the Poké Ball is perfect here to help find the Pokémon we need as early as possible.

Professor’s Research is a Supporter card to draw 2 cards. Since it’s a Supporter card, you want to play it early in the game, since you’ll want to play your other Supporters in the late game.

Defensive Cards

A1-219
A3-147

Erika heals out Grass-type Pokémon for 50 damage, putting them out of harm’s way on the upcoming turn. We can use it on Pheromosa or Buzzwole ex to prevent the opposing player from knocking them out.

Leaf Cape protects your Grass-type Pokémon, adding 30 HP to put them out of range from the opponent’s upcoming attack.

Battle Cards

A3a-069

Lusamine can only be played when your opponent has at least 1 Match Point, which isn’t too bad for us, since she’s useless in the early game. Lusamine lets us attach 2 random Energy in our discard pile to one of our Ultra Beast Pokemon, enabling us to attack with that Pokemon a turn or two earlier.

This is great to get one of our Buzzwole ex to 3 Energy as quickly as possible.

A3a-066

Beastite increases the attack damage of your Ultra Beast it’s attached to by 10 damage, making it easier for us to knock out higher HP Pokémon.

A3a-064
A2-150

Repel is limited to Active Basic Pokémon only, forcing the opposing player to switch it out for another Pokémon. This can force them to switch a lower HP Pokémon to the Active spot for you to attack and knock out, or at least, it can slow them down, forcing them to use resources to retreat their Pokémon.

Cyrus has more control, allowing you to choose an opponent’s damaged Pokémon and move it to the Active spot for your Pokémon to attack.

Other Cards to Include

  • Kartana is a Basic Grass Pokémon capable of dealing 40 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon for only 1 Grass Energy, perfect to pressure the opposing player as you get your Buzzwole ex ready to take over.
  • Red is great against ex-type Pokémon, boosting your damage output by 20 to knock out higher HP Pokémon.
