Meowscarada Decidueye ex Deck Guide – Pokemon TCG Pocket

Meowscarada Decidueye ex has been making waves in Pokémon Pocket’s A3 meta! It took a while for the deck to kick off, remaining as an off-meta choice for a couple of weeks. However, with the rise of Darkrai ex Giratina ex, more players have been picking up the Meowscarada Decidueye ex deck as a reliable counter choice.

The Grass-type deck runs two Stage 2 Pokémon, so having Rare Candy is a must for faster and more consistent gameplay.

How to Play Meowscarada Decidueye ex

The Grass-Pokemon

A3-144

Since Meowscarada and Decidueye ex are Stage 2 Pokémon, it can take us a while to find the right piece and evolve our Basic Pokémon to its Stage 1 evolution before getting the Stage 2 carry into play. This is where Rare Candy comes into play, allowing you to skip the level 2 evolution and go straight from Basic to Stage 2 Pokémon.

Depending on the game and your hand, you’ll decide which Pokémon you need to use Rare Candy over the other. For example, if you have a Floragato for Meowscarada but are missing Dartrix for Decidueye ex, you’ll prioritize Rare Candy for Decidueye ex.

Sprigatito’s Cry for Help adds more consistency to your deck. For 1 Grass Energy, you can activate Cry for Help and draw a Grass-type Pokémon, helping you find the missing pieces to your game plan. It’ll also thin out your deck, which should increase the odds of drawing into the cards you need later in the game.

Meowscarada is a 140 HP Pokémon, only needing 2 Grass Energy to activate its Fighting Claws attack and push 60 damage at the opponent’s Active Pokémon. However, if your opponent has an Ex Pokémon in the Active spot, Fighting Claws will deal 130 damage instead, securing knockouts on higher HP Pokémon. Meowscarada is a great option against Ex Pokemon, but falls short against the non-ex type, so you’ll have to rely on Decidueye ex for the stronger attacks.

Decidueye ex is a 170 HP Pokémon, capable of dealing 80 damage with Razor Leaf. It’s a weaker attack compared to Meowscarada’s Fighting Claws when fighting an Ex-type Pokémon, but it’s the stronger option against non-Ex Pokémon.

However, if your opponent has a damaged Pokémon in play, Decidueye ex’s Pierce the Pain can deal 100 damage to them even if they’re on the Bench. This can be a strong option if you’re trying to knock out a Pokémon hiding on the Bench.

Draw Cards

Poke Ball can draw you a Sprigatito or Rowlet, making sure you have your Basic Pokémon in play to start evolving them.

Professor’s Research draws you two cards, adding more resources to your hand and helping you find the cards you need to make your plays.

Healing Cards

A3-155

Erika heals one of your Grass-type Pokémon for 50 damage, making sure they’re out of range from getting knocked out on the upcoming turn.

As for Lille, she heals your Pokémon for 60 damage, but is restricted to only Stage 2 Pokémon, so you can only heal Meowscarada or Decidueye ex. Regardless, the 60 healing can be a game changer, putting you out of range of the opponent’s upcoming attack.

Tools

A3-147

Attaching Leaf Cape to one of your Grass-type Pokémon gives them an additional 30 HP, making it harder for the opposing player to one-shot your Pokémon.

Strengths Weaknesses:

  • A great choice against ex-type Pokémon thanks to Meowscarada’s heavy 130 damage attack.
  • A strong choice against the popular Darkrai ex Giratina ex deck, capable of one-shotting Darkrai ex with Meowscarada even through a Giant Cape.
  • Weaker against non-ex type Pokémon.
  • Grass decks struggle against Fire-type Pokémon and will have their Pokémon getting one-shot by most attacks.

Closing Words

If you’re a fan of Grass-type decks, then Meowscarada Decidueye ex is the deck to pick up in Pokémon Pocket! It’s well-positioned in the meta right now and capable of going head-on against other top choices.

Rare Candy is a core part of this deck to get your Stage 2 Pokémon in play as early as possible and start going for attacks to weaken their Pokémon and secure knockouts.
