The Lightning Pachirisu ex deck has taken a new form in Pokémon Pocket’s A2 Space-Time Smackdown, dropping other Lightning Pokémon like Pikachu ex in favor of running Pachirisu ex as its sole Pokémon.
With Pachirisu ex as the only Basic Pokémon in the deck, you’re guaranteed to start every game with it in your opening hand. The entire strategy revolves around keeping Pachirisu ex in play as long as possible, using it as an early-game attacker and maximizing the impact of its powerful attack.

How to Play
The Sole Pokemon

Pachirisu ex has 120 HP, meaning it’s not a tanky Pokémon but can still survive early attacks and deal a decent amount of damage. It requires 2 Lightning Energy to use its Sparking Gadget attack, which deals 40 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon.
On its own, 40 damage is too low for a solo carry Pokémon. However, attaching a Tool card like Rocket Helmet or Giant Cape activates Pachirisu ex‘s ability, boosting its damage to 80. With this boost, it can knock out targets much more efficiently.
Additionally, Pachirisu ex has a low retreat cost, allowing you to switch it out when it’s at risk of being knocked out. You can then bring in a healthy Pachirisu ex to deny your opponent an easy prize.
Tools
We have three different tools in this list, and we’ll need to have at least one of them early in the game to make sure we can get the most out of our Pachirisu ex attacks.
Giant Cape gives Pachirisu ex +20 HP, turning into a 150 HP Pokemon. this makes it harder for your opponent to knock out Pachirisu ex, giving you an additional attack turn.
As for Rocky Helmet, when your Pachirisu ex is attacked, the opponent’s attacker will take 20 damage, which makes it easier for you to knock out that Pokemon if has more than 80 HP.
Draw Cards
Poke Ball will draw you your second Pachirisu ex so you can have it in play and start attaching Lightning Energy to it to back up your first Pachirisu ex.
Professor’s Research is a Supporter card to draw 2 cards. Since it’s a Supporter card, you want to play it early into the game since you’ll want to play your other Supporters in the late game.
Defensive Cards
Potion is a great play if your Pachirisu ex is damaged and your opponent’s upcoming attack can knock it out. Healing 20 damage from Pachirisu ex gives you more turns to deal additional damage.
Blue is another defensive card, weakening your opponent’s upcoming turn by -10 damage. It might seem weaker than Potion, but if your opponent’s attack deals exactly 130 damage, it’ll prevent it from one-shotting Pachirisu ex. If you have Giant Cape attached, you can survive a 150-damage attack with Blue.
Battle Cards

Giovanni gives a +10 damage boost to your Pachirisu ex attack, becoming a 90 damage attack if you have a Tool attached to Pachirisu ex.
Sabrina forces opponents to switch out their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon. This can allow you to knock out a more valuable Pokemon or slow opponent’s strategy and force them to retreat and discard Energy to get their plan back on track.
Since we’re dealing a lot of damage to the opponent’s Pokemon, Cyrus is great in this list, giving us the ability to pull a damaged Pokemon on the Bench to the Active spot and attack it directly.
Pros & Cons
- Plays aggressively, going for early attacks to knock out the opponent’s Pokemon.
- Although you run multiple Tool cards, there is still a chance that you won’t have one of them in your hand when Pachirisu ex is ready to attack, reducing your damage to 40.
- Pachirisu ex‘s low HP makes it an easy target for opponent’s to one-shot.
