The Pokémon TCG delivered an incredible showcase on the grand competitive stage! The best players battled fiercely for the title of Pokémon TCG 2025 Champion.
This year’s event featured a wide range of decks, though Gholdengo ex and Dragapult ex Dusknoir stood out with the strongest representation going into Day 2. While Gholdengo ex had the biggest surge in Day 2, none of its pilots managed to break into the Top 4. Instead, the finals came down to Gardevoir ex facing off against Dragapult ex Dusknoir, capping off an exciting weekend of competition.

Gardevoir ex has been one of the strongest choices in Scarlet & Violet – Black Bolt meta, and it managed to win first place in Worlds, beating the popular Dragapult ex Dusknoir in the finals. This deck relies on Gardevoir ex and Scream Tail as damage deals and has Munkidori for the additional Counter damage. Lillie’s Clefairy ex has been a popular addition to combat popular Dragon decks like Dragapult.
An early Flutter Mane can slow the opponent’s pace, buying you enough time until you can set up your attacks. Scream Tail and Munkidori require damage Counters to get the most out of them, so Gardevoir ex’s Psychic Embrace plays a role here to ensure you have the damage Counter and maximize your damage output.

Dragapult ex Dusknoir finished in second place at the Pokémon TCG Worlds. Dragapult ex can play fast, but this version cuts out Rare Candy entirely due to counter plays like Budew that can render them useless.
Dragapult ex deals 200 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon with its Phantom Dive attack and 60 damage to the opponent’s benched Pokémon. The list also has Munkidori as backup damage, allowing you to push that extra damage you need to get a knock-out on higher HP Pokémon.
Dusclops and Dusknoir are added damage, which can set you up to get a knock out on a Benched Pokemon that your opponent is relying on or to make sure you can deal with an Active Pokemon.

3 Lightning Energy SVE 12
3 Fighting Energy SVE 14
Raging Bolt ex Teal Mask Ogerpon ex is in the top 4! This deck uses Ogerpon’s Teal Dance to attach a Grass Energy and draw a card, adding more resources to your hand as you attach Energy. Those Energy cards can be used to attack with Ogerpon ex to activate its Myriad Leaf Shower to damage the opponent’s Active Pokemon.
However, in most cases, we’ll be discarding the Grass Energy to pump up Raging Bolt ex’s Bellowing Thunder attack to push for a heavier attack and one-shot an opponent’s Pokémon.
Raging Bolt ex has remained one of the top performers in Pokémon TCG for a while now, and it can play pretty aggressively to disrupt the opponent’s strategy and make it hard for them to get back in the game.

The Charizard ex is still a popular choice among the best players, having Pidgeot es as a searcher to find the cards you need and adding more consistency to your deck.
We’re relying on Rare Candy to speed up the Charizard ex evolution, skipping the Charmander evolution to have Charizard ex a turn earlier. Charizard ex can then activate his Infernal Reign to attach Fire Energy and speed up the attack turn process. Using Burning Darkness, Charizard ex can deal 180 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon and an additional 30 damage for each Prize Card your opponent has taken.
Charizard ex is popular for one-shotting high HP Pokémon, especially in the late game when your opponent has taken a couple of Prize Cards. Dusclops and Dusknoir are other sources of damage to make sure you get the knock out on a Benched or Active Pokemon.

Gholdengo ex’s Coin Bonus is a value engine, drawing you a card each turn and 2 cards if Gholdengo ex is in the Active spot. This is adding resources to your hand, which will be crucial to our strategy as we’ll be relying on discarding Energy cards to push damage with Gholdengo ex. Gholdengo ex’s Make it Rain deals 50 damage for each Basic Energy card you discard, allowing you to one-shot any Pokémon in the Active spot if you have the Basic Energy cards to discard.
Superior Energy Retrieval will be important to get the Energy cards back into your hand from the discard pile and discard them a second time to push damage with Make it Rain.
