Red Blue Lucy Deck Guide – One Piece Card Game

Heya everyone! Red Blue Lucy is one of the OP15 Leaders, bringing a unique playstyle to the One Piece card game that heavily revolves around Events. This is a Dressrosa deck, which uses Events as part of your Leader’s strategy to gain an edge over the opposing player. This can burn through resources fast, so with your Leader’s draw engine alongside multiple card draw effects, we can keep our hand full with options for the later stages of the game.

In this guide, we’ll go through the Red Blue Lucy decklist, explain the deck’s overall game plan, and break down how the cards synergize with each other. Let’s get started!

Leader

Lucy

Red Blue Lucy is a 4 Life card Leader with two effects that revolve around Events! When Lucy is attacking, or your opponent is attacking, you can trash any number of Events from your hand to gain a +1,000 Power boost on your Leader for each trashed card. This can be used offensively to go for a heavier attack with your Leader, or defensively to protect your Leader from one of the opponent’s attacks.

Most of the time, we’ll be using it defensively to protect our Life cards, trashing an Event we least need for that +1,000 Power boost.

As for Lucy’s second effect, it’s an Activate: Main that you can use after you’ve activated an Event with a base cost of 3 or more, letting you draw a card. So you’re basically gaining resources in your hand, making sure you don’t run out of steam in the later stages of the game. You can also play the likes of Sabo and activate an Event, then use your Leader effect to draw a card.

How to Play

Stage

Dressrosa Kingdom

On Play, Dressrosa Kingdom lets you draw a card, so you’re not losing card resources in your hand when playing your Stage. Dressrosa Kingdom will remain in play as a defensive stage, letting you trash an Event or a Stage to give your Leader or a Character a +2,000 Power boost when your opponent attacks. This is stronger than your Leader’s effect, and can turn your Event into a defensive Counter play to protect your Life cards or a key Character.

Early Searchers

Rebecca
Viola
Fo...llow...Me...and...I...Will...Gui...de...You

Rebecca looks at the top 3 cards of your deck and lets you add 1 {Dressrosa} type card to your hand, helping you shape up your combo plays. She can later serve as a low-cost Blocker if you give her a Don, forcing the opponent to remove her through an effect or have one of their attacks chump-blocked by Rebecca.

As for Viola, she’s a +2,000 Counter Character, but can also be played for her searcher effect, letting you look at the top 3 cards of your deck to add 1 {Dressrosa} type card to your hand, similar to Rebecca.

However, Rebecca is always the better approach over Viola, since Rebecca can be used for her Blocker keyword, whereas Viola does a better job as a +2,000 Counter play. We’ll still go for Viola if we need to fix our hand.

Fo…llow…Me…and…I…Will…Gui…de…You is a 1-cost Event that can be played directly from our hand, its trigger effect, or through Characters like Bartolomeo and Sabo. The 1-cost Event looks at the top 5 cards of your deck, but can only draw you a {Dressrosa} type Character, so you don’t get access to your Events through it.

4-cost Characters

Bartolomeo
Cavendish

Bartolomeo is a 6,000 Power Character, tough to remove for the opposing player, since every time he’s KO’d, he lets you trash an Event from your hand to keep him on the field, making sure you get to keep a presence on the field.

Cavendish is another 6,000 Power Character, but we only gain value from him when he goes for the attack. Whenever Cavendish attacks, you get to draw 2 cards and trash 1. So, you’re gaining card resources and getting to filter your hand for better cards. In most cases, your opponent can’t afford to ignore Cavendish and will likely try to remove him from the field.

Both Bartolomeo and Cavendish don’t have a Counter, so they’re mostly dead cards in hand if we don’t play them. If we need to trash cards in the later stages of the came with Cavendish or Fire Fist, they can be good choices.

Events

All these Events are at 3 Don or more, which means activating them allows you to activate your Leader’s effect to gain a card draw.

Go Ahead and Use 'Em
And No One Else Can Have It! It's Our Memento of Him

Go Ahead and Use ‘Em is a 3-cost Dressrosa Event that has two effects to choose from. You can either draw 2 cards to add more resources to your hand or give one of your Dressrosa type Characters the Blocker keyword. We can give Characters like Viola the Blocker keyword to protect us from an attack. Go Ahead and Use ‘Em can be played through Bartolomeo, which is usually the best scenario, as you’re developing a Character, activating a 3-cost Event, and getting a card draw from your Leader.

As for And No One Else Can Have It! It's Our Memento of Him, it’s a 4-cost Event that lets you choose one of the following effects: You can draw 2 cards and trash 1 card. Then, you can play a 4-cost or less Dressrosa type Character from your hand. So you’re gaining card resources and you get to develop Bartolomeo or Cavendish.

The second effect is more situational, as it’s a method to return a Stage to the owner’s hand. It’s usually useful against decks that heavily rely on a Stage as part of their game plan, for example, Black Imu.

Ace!!!

Ace!!!
can be used either defensively or offensively, giving one of the opponent’s Characters a -3,000 Power reduction. Ideally, we want to hold off on playing it until we have 4 or more Events in the trash to reduce its cost by 3. A 1-cost Event that gives -3,000 Power to Character can be great to combo with your plays or play during the opponent’s turn to protect yourself from an attack.

If you’re trying to KO a Characters through an attack or an effect,

Ace!!!
can be used to lower the power of a Character, making it vulnerable to your attacks or putting it in range for one of your removal plays like Barrier-Barrier Pistol.

If can also be used as a Counter, banking 1 Don to give an opponent’s Character -3,000 Power, making sure they can’t easily take a Life card or KO one of your Characters.

Barrier-Barrier Pistol
Fire Fist

Barrier-Barrier Pistol can place a 6,000 Power or less Character at the bottom of the opponent’s deck. Combined with Power reduction cards like Ace!!! and Ace & Sabo & Luffy, we can go for higher Power targets to remove from play.

As for the 7-cost Fire Fist, it’s a bit costly, but it does multiple things to help shift the game in your favor. You’re giving your Leader a +3,000 Power boost while reducing the Power of an opponent’s Character by 8,000 until the end of the opponent’s upcoming turn. So, if you’re trying to remove a rested Characters, the -8,000 Power reduction is perfect for heavy Characters that your opponent is relying on as part of their win condition. Additionally, Fire Fist lets you trash 2 cards from your hand to KO a 0 Power Character. This can come in handy if you need to remove an Active Character that you can’t attack, and you can even one of your other Power reduction cards for Characters that have more than 8,000 Power. However, in many cases, we’ll opt out of the KO effect, and hold onto the card resources in our hand.

Sabo Blocker

Sabo

The 7-cost Sabo is a 9,000 Power Blocker that makes Barrier-Barrier Pistol and Fire Fist easier to play. We can activate their effects through Sabo, getting value out of our Events while developing a high Power Blocker to protect us from an attack and can later act as a heavy hitter to pressure the opponent’s Life card.

Keep in mind that activating an Event through Sabo means we get access to our Leader’s effect for the additional card draw.

+2,000 Counters

Ace & Sabo & Luffy
Leo

We already covered Voila, so won’t go over her again. Ace & Sabo & Luffy can give 1 Don to your Leader or a Character and then you get to trash it to give a -3,000 Power reduction, which will help you control of the board.

Leo can be played against decks with removal effects, protecting your 7,000 Power or less Characters from getting removed, removing another Character instead.

Mulligan Tips

Going First: Dressrosa Kingdom, Rebecca, Go Ahead and Use ‘Em, Cavendish, Sabo.

Going Second: Dressrosa Kingdom, Rebecca, Cavendish or Bartolomeo.

General Tips

  • Set up the combo plays. You need to get the most out of your events and Leader effect, so we’ll be using our searchers to find the pieces we’re missing.
  • Use your Leader/Stage effect when possible. You want to get access to the Power boost, and we’ll trash events we need the least.
  • We can use our Leader’s effect offensively. In the later stages of the game, the Power boost will come in handy for helping you close out the game.
  • Blockers are important in this deck. Blockers are how we extend the game to additional turns, buying us enough time until we can set up a winning turn.

Other Cards to Include

Cavendish
Would you let me eat… the Flame-Flame Fruit?
Gol.D.Roger

  • Cavendish is a +2,000 Counter play that can be dropped on the board to become a 6,000 Power Character if you have 4 or more Events in your trash.
  • Would you let me eat… the Flame-Flame Fruit? can be used as a late-game win condition, giving your Leader the Double Attack keyword and a Power boost, allowing you to threaten 2 Life cards with one attack.
  • Gol D. Roger is a late-game win condition to shut down the opponent’s Blockers.

Closing Words

Red Blue Lucy has a unique game plan, heavily relying on Events as part of its strategy to enable the Leader’s effects. Your late-game Sabo is a perfect defensive play, and the fact that you can play an Event through him can set up for an explosive turn to shift the tempo in your favor.
